My name is Phil and I’m the owner / gardener of Spade + Thistle. Welcome to the Spade + Thistle home page. I’m glad that you’re here!
Maybe you’re here because you purchased a home from an avid gardener...the gardens looked beautiful when you moved in, but a season or two later maybe not so much. Or perhaps you love your gardens but just can’t physically do the work any longer, or maybe you just don’t have the time, or just don’t want to take care of things yourself.
I’m here to help!
When you hire Spade + Thistle you’re really hiring me, and me alone. No part-timers, no lazy landscapers. That means that you can be assured you’ll receive the individualized service, great communication, high standard of work, and attention to detail that only a business owner with a passion for their trade can provide.

I primarily work on a time and materials basis; my services are billed at my hourly rate of $80.00 + HST. Of course, I’m able to give you an estimate of potential costs ahead of time and am happy to work with you on determining how to make my service fit your budget.
